Adenovirus structure, host-factor interactions and data science in virology.
Vijay Reddy, The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota, Austin, MN 55912, USA.

Our group is interested in the structures of virus assemblies in general and particularly of adenoviruses. A key area of our research currently is understanding the interactions by which adenoviruses interact with host factors (e.g., coagulation factors) to shield themselves from immune clearance and achieve redirection to the liver. I will be presenting our recently published and yet to be published work on similarities and differences between two coagulation factors, FX and FII (Prothrombin) binding to multiple C-type adenoviruses and the reasons for the variable binding affinities. Furthermore, I will give a tour of recently released integrative virus-world database (VWdb) (https://virus-world.org) that contains the information on ~256,000 viruses that are classified according their virus taxonomy lineage with hyperlinks to the related sequence and structural information available at UniProt, GenBank, NCBI, PDB and EMDB. In addition, VWdb now contains the information on diseases caused by individual viruses along with the associated symptoms and affected hosts, obtained by leveraging various AI-agents: ChatGPT, Gemini and Llama.
