L’UMR 1092 RESINFIT basée à Limoges est à l’honneur avec une innovation qui pourrait révolutionner la lutte contre l’antibiorésistance.
DAMOCLES Diagnostics est une start-up deeptech fondée en 2023, incubée au sein de deux UMR Inserm (l’UMR 1092 RESINFIT et l’UMR 1308 CAPTUR). Elle est née de la collaboration de plusieurs experts aux compétences complémentaires, allant de la bactériologie clinique à la mécatronique, en passant par la chimie analytique et le diagnostic in vitro.
Damoclès a développé une technologie prometteuse qui se distingue par sa capacité à diagnostiquer en cinq heures les bactéries responsables d’une infection et à recommander l’antibiotique le plus efficace. Ce processus innovant contourne le délai habituel de 48 heures nécessaire avec les méthodes traditionnelles, réduisant ainsi les traitements inadaptés qui favorisent l’émergence des résistances bactériennes.
Cette technologie pourrait à terme bénéficier à la médecine humaine et vétérinaire. En pleine levée de fonds, l’équipe ambitionne de produire et de distribuer largement Damoclès dans les hôpitaux et laboratoires.

Limoges-based UMR 1092 RESINFIT is in the spotlight with an innovation that could revolutionize the fight against antibiotic resistance.
DAMOCLES Diagnostics is a deeptech start-up founded in 2023, incubated within two Inserm UMRs (UMR 1092 RESINFIT and UMR 1308 CAPTUR). It was born of the collaboration of several experts with complementary skills, ranging from clinical bacteriology to mechatronics, analytical chemistry and in vitro diagnostics.
Damoclès has developed a promising technology that stands out for its ability to diagnose the bacteria responsible for an infection within five hours and recommend the most effective antibiotic. This innovative process bypasses the usual 48-hour delay required with traditional methods, thus reducing inappropriate treatments that encourage the emergence of bacterial resistance.
This technology could ultimately benefit both human and veterinary medicine. Currently in the process of raising funds, the team’s ambition is to produce and distribute Damoclès widely in hospitals and laboratories.
